Summer was spent exploring. And this particular Sunday was spent at Riverwalk. It was our first time there and we really enjoyed walking by the  river and being outside and hunting for Pokemon. Because everyone and their mother is playing Pokemon (please don’t tell my mom about it….). I’d go for sure again, maybe when it’s sweater weather or if I bring a bathing suit to play at the splash pad. 😉

Park City, Utah – It’s Like a Vacation

Hello Utah!

I honestly never thought I would come here. I can’t imagine why now. This place is so beautiful and they even have this stuff called “snow”. It’s very cold and pretty to look at. I came up here to spend ten wonderfully chilly days with my aunt and uncle and their three bigs. We’re planning on skiing in a few days, but for now we are content on napping, lounging, and eating all of the snacks.

Today Ariah and I went out and explored the ski resort where we are staying. So. Lovely. We even rode the gondola! I’ve posted a few pictures of our mini adventure below. imageimage image image image image image

So so much love for this place. Bring on the adventure. We’re ready.

10 Little Things: July

10 Little Things

Ten little things that I am loving this month:

#1 – Ariah in the Cinderella (I’m pretty sure that’s the right princess) dress that I got at Walt Disney World when I was six.

#2 – My go to snack at Epcot. I ended up there on a random Tuesday afternoon after work a few weeks ago. It was a much needed solo trip where I wasn’t in charge of sixty children.

Cream Brule

#3 – Another Disney one! The new Disney Springs has a ton of beautiful walls, doors, and gates that provide beautiful backdrops. Everything is adorable and I get trigger happy. I really want to try out my film camera and see what happens.

Disney Springs

#4 – My Elephant Pants! These are insanely comfortable and I really love how vibrant the color is.

Elephant Pants

#5 – The way my clothes are fitting right now. I’ve slimmed down a bit since the summer has started and am feeling pretty confident with myself. I’m hoping to start taking yoga or beginner ballet classes this fall.

#6 – My garden!!! It deserves every exclamation mark. I’m super proud of it and a little bit surprised that’s it’s doing as well as it is. It’s my happy place.

#7 – I got a new lens! I worked really hard and saved and budgeted. I’m really happy that I was able to get it before a birthday party that I shot. Hooray upgrades!

Payton's Birthday Cake

#8 – Pinterest has been super inspiring lately. It’s helped me plan my garden and learn how to better care for my plants too.

#9 – This bathroom “selfie”. The only way I get pictures of myself at work is when I take them myself. Bathroom mirrors, self-timers, and the classic selfie basically sum it up.

#10 – This app! It takes your image and makes it look like a water colored painting. I prefer using images that have a lot of clean lines and detail. But the softer, more blurred pictures are just as stunning.

Documenting Dapper Day

I took a lot of pictures when my mom and I went to Dapper Day this past March. And last year I dropped the ball majorly on documenting our adventure. Actually, thinking about it now, I have no idea where those pictures are…. Don’t tell my mom. Anyway, I wanted to be able to get the story down but also not spend so much time doing it. Don’t get me wrong, I love to scrapbook! But there were so many pictures that it was a little intimidating. And I wanted something to look at right now! So here’s my story: I was on Instagram one night and a company called Nowvel messaged me about their new photo book app that they were launching. So of course I followed them right away and got a free credit for my first album! Naturally it just had to be Dapper Day! When the app officially launched I got right to it. The entire process was insanely easy and I had the book in my hands in no time at all. I was shocked at how quickly they got it to me! I really loved everything about it and I’m working on my second book now (as soon as I find last year’s Dapper Day pictures). I also love that the pictures are 8×8 inches and the paper is super thick & sturdy!

Dapper Day: Spring 2015

March 2015 2966

Happy Dapper Day! My mom and I attended the Spring Dapper Day event at Magic Kingdom this past Saturday. We had a blast! Here are some of the pictures that I just couldn’t wait to show you.

March 2015 2975

I set my camera on one of the benches on the Liberty Square Riverboat and used the self timer for this one. We waited and waited so that we would be the last people off of the boat and have a clear shot!

Those balloons are actually really difficult to keep hold of. The balloon holding cast member told us that in 1994 someone let go of all of the balloons on purpose and was fired. If you need help with the math that’s 90 balloons times $10 a pop. Yikes.

Cinderella’s Wishing Well was FINALLY open to the public again. I just adore it.

Okay, so here’s a funny story. Both my mother and I just about had our feet fall off. We went to first aid and loaded up on band-aids, then went to find some new shoes. That’s why you see me where purple flats and not my super sparkly flats. They were just not broken in enough yet.

Let’s just say that we are super excited for the Fall Dapper Day event this coming October. So. So. So. Excited.

being twenty-something

twenty something

Yes. I am turning twenty-two this month. No. I do not need you to comment on how young I am.

Many of my friends or people I have to deal with day to day are in their thirties. And I am constantly reminded of my age. However, I am TWENTY-TWO. And the reminder of my age is typically in a derogatory way. I know that I am more mature than your average twenty-two year old these days. I am focused on my work, I never go out and party (I’d rather go to Disney World & always do), I don’t drink, I’m not a video game junkie, and I find it hard to have a conversation with people around my age. We just don’t “click”. And because of this I’ve put myself in a position where I befriend like minded people in their thirties. It causes me to feel inadequate because I haven’t had this or that life experience yet. It most likely wouldn’t bother me as much if those like minded thirty year old’s didn’t brandish my age like a knife and try to use it against me. Should I be sorry that I’ve only been alive for so many years? Absolutely not. And honestly it says more about the maturity of the people that I’m around who feel the constant need to bring it up and throw it in my face like a weapon. Having met thousand of people at varying ages I’ve decided that there are some who are bitter about growing older and not feeling as valid or that they can’t “pull something off” because of their age. What a load of crap. Stinky, smelly, crappy crap. It makes me sad for those people and even more hurt because they feel the need to inflict their insecurities, knowingly or not, on today’s young adults.

I am a young adult. I am enjoying the freedom of traveling, having my own plans, and doing things my way. I am learning and growing every single day. And those who feel that they are older and wiser should be sharing all of their learned knowledge, not belittling others for not knowing just yet. I’m not going to punish myself for not knowing how to do something before I’ve learned to do it. So you probably shouldn’t try to punish me either.

currently: March

Currently- March

Reading:The Dollanganger series by V. C. Andrews (again….)

Wearing: A thrifted yellow raincoat. I know that it’s vintage and originally from Bergdorf. Hunting it down on the Internet to learn more about the designer. No such luck yet.

Dreaming: Fresh starts. Fresh air. Lots of sunshine.

Traveling: Orlando for Dapper Day and the Flower & Garden Festival. Planning an upcoming trip to Disneyland, California. I just can’t even believe it.

Capturing: Myself. Seeing myself through others eyes. And also trying to not judge myself based on the overly critical eyes. Accepting fair criticism.

Obsessing: Pink walls, tropical plants, and the new Cinderella movie!

Listening: I’ll Be Seeing You – Billie Holiday (because obviously I enjoy torturing myself)

Dying: My hair! Hello gorgeous, fresh overhaul! I’m so ready.

Losing: My cell phone. My mind. My car keys. Daily.

twenty two

It’s March. Already. I just didn’t see that one coming. You know how calendars lie. But it really is here and that means that in twenty three days I will be twenty two. And that is pretty weird.
