Don’t Grow Up. It’s A Trap

I have submitted all of the applications (as far as I know) that I need to for college! FINALLY. I am so excited about it too. I also found out that I am eligible for a few grants and loans. Which is awesome because I’m footing the bill for everything except tuition. I know it doesn’t sound like there’s a lot left to pay for, but when books are around $150 EACH it makes you want to cringe a bit. I sure did. I’m going up to the school today to talk to a financial advisor about possibly becoming eligible for more grants (the free to me money). I took a year off after I graduated and I am so glad that I did. It gave me time to work and be a grown up. It also gave me time to figure out what I wanted to go to school for. I had no idea when I graduated that I would be interested in sigh language. So, I’ll be going into this head first knowing exactly what I want to do. I’ll be majoring in Sign Language Interpretation at Hillsborough Community College. However, my classes will be spread out between 3 different campus’. You can see now why I need more grants. Gas is a pain in the butt as it is. After I graduate HCC, I plan on transferring over to USF to major in Child Psychology and minor in Sigh Language. One day I hope to operate my own martial arts school and I am hoping to help as many people as possible, including special needs.

The HCC campus that I picked as my home base is the one in Plant City. I get to drive through the historic part of town at least 3 times a week. I’m thrilled. It’s so pretty there!

I keep telling people, “don’t grow up, it’s a trap”. I’ve always been “grown up”, at least on the inside. You know, I was born at 30 and all that. But really, people, if I could go back and live a little during high school, I wouldn’t mind it one bit.
